Hotel Restaurants

By: Wesley Somoza Posted: 04/28/11 Category: Hotels The old theory is that hotel restaurants only provide the guest average food for a big cost. Most of the time people equate hotel restaurant food with being average tasting and high in calories and fat. However in a new turn for the better hotel restaurants especially those located within large metropolitan cities have worked hard to improve their menus, decor and overall dining experience for their guests.

We have recently just shot videos for restaurants located in Downtown San Diego, La Jolla and Del Mar. All 3 restaurants (Kitchen 1540, The Lodge and Soliel @K) did a fantatstic job of creating a high end casual ambiance along with terrific tasting food ranging from steaks to seafood. Kirchen 1540 even had an outside irrigation garden where they grow and harvest their own seasoning right on the property. It was quite impressive. Soliel @K located within the Marriott Gaslamp right next door to Petco Park and across the street from the Convention Center had a modern unique decor that was very inviting. With a wood fire oven on display the menu featured great tatsing Ahi and Filet along with out of this world flat bread. The outside patio was very cool, especially on game day to watch the people passing by and their upstairs roof top bar and lounge Latitude is about the coolest hang out in San Diego.

All in all these 3 restaurants have completely changed the way I view hotel restaurants, and with Roy's Hawaiian Fusion now loacted at the Marriott Bay Front you can see that even the high end popular restaurants are taking notice and giving it a go. So next time you are staying at a hotel, don't immediately pass up the restaurant located on the property. Give it a go. Maybe you too will be impressed.
